The school: Students (aged 13 - 16) are referred to our school by both local authorities and mainstream schools, and are often challenging (academically and/or behaviourally). You will take an active role in helping to equip students with the skills they will require as they transfer to the world of work.
Job Duties:
As a GCSE/BTEC Art Teacher/Instructor/Tutor within the SEMH provision, your main responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging art lessons according to the curriculum, providing individualised support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, assessing and monitoring student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment.
• Delivering BTEC Art/Art Activities to small groups of students (normally a maximum of 12)
• Developing schemes of work and lesson plans
• Taking a lead of the marking of work and assessment for learning within the Art department.
• Developing relationships and offering support to challenging students in order for them to achieve
• Liaising with the pastoral team to monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance
• Keeping up-to-date registers on attendance and progress and ensuring that information on student progress is tracked in the database
• Produce individual learning plans and set appropriate targets
• Attend meetings with parents and schools as required
• Be familiar with and following the company code of conduct for student behaviour (and applying disciplinary procedures evenly)
Desired Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Experience teaching art at the GCSE/BTEC level - Knowledge of SEMH provision and strategies to support students with additional needs
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of the GCSE/BTEC Art curriculum - Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Proficiency in classroom management techniques
Working Conditions:
You will be working in a school setting, collaborating with colleagues and supporting students with SEMH needs. The role may involve some additional responsibilities outside of regular teaching hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
