Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Structural Engineer, within the Buildings & Places business unit to be based in Manchester, UK.

Duties of the role include:
1. Assisting with the supervision of structural engineering design of complex Engineering projects.
2. Effectively control commercial, managerial and technical aspects of projects or parts thereof for which you are responsible.
3. Sourcing opportunities and preparing fee proposals for submission to client, including resources and programme.
4. Leading a team of engineers and technicians designing building schemes.
5. Performing work to an agreed budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
6. Providing guidance to graduate engineers.
7. Managing and leading junior engineers and overseeing structural designs.
8. Managing and coordinating design input and output.
9. Engaging with the internal design review process with one of our Lead Verifiers.
10. Attending informal design workshops with other members of the design team.
11. Maintaining outstanding technical quality.
Specific Requirements:
1. Ability to design in various common structural materials with an excellent knowledge of design in reinforced concrete construction and steel design.
2. Excellent working knowledge of the current Eurocodes.
3. Excellent working knowledge of Structural Analysis Software, TEKLA Structural Designer, TEDDs, SCIA, or similar software.
4. Experience in the assessment of existing structures and their justification, as well as new build designs.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
6. Interacts with Clients in a professional manner.
7. Strong interpersonal, negotiating, problem solving, and analytical skills are a must.
8. Able to work well under pressure.
9. Detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking and prioritising workloads.
Minimum requirements
1. A solid track record of having worked on a variety of structures projects, possibly as project leader on some, with experience of dealing directly with clients.
2. Excellent knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, procedures and Structural design principles.
3. Undertaking structural engineering design on complex projects, performing analyses and calculations as appropriate.
4. Supervising work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget.
5. Ability to deliver design solutions, assessment calculations, lead teams and successfully manage projects.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
2. Chartered Engineer (CEng).
3. Member of either the Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
4. Candidates will need to have previously held a position within an established structural engineering design consultancy with experience of structural engineering in directly relevant fields.
