We are welcoming applications for the role of: Safeguarding Liaison Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Safeguarding Team in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work alongside the teams which fall under the umbrella of safeguarding including: children, adults, cared for children, MCA and Domestic Abuse Health Advocate teams. You will be required to utilise your specialist knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and legal frameworks. You will work to support the Named Nurse positions, the Named Midwife and the safeguarding advisors in providing assurances that the safeguarding team delivers care which is of good quality and assures the trust and its wider partners.
This is a varied rewarding role for motivated, hardworking individuals. To succeed you will need to demonstrate an understanding of working with families, children, unborn and adults within the safeguarding arena. Clinical practice and knowledge of safeguarding issues within busy acute and community hospital settings is required alongside an understanding of the wider health economy.
The successful candidate will be required to work across STSFT sites offering a Monday to Friday service.
Main duties of the job
1. The co-ordination of safeguarding information from ED, South Tyneside Urgent Care Centre for Children, wards and departments.
2. Establish and maintain systems to ensure appropriate information sharing from Acute to Community Health Care providers and Children Social care in relation to relevant attendances, admissions and births.
3. Work as part of the safeguarding team to ensure that unborn, children, young people, and adults are protected from harm.
4. Be a highly visible safeguarding liaison nurse supporting the Named Nurses, Named midwife and wider safeguarding team in providing advice, support, training and supervision in relation to safeguarding within the Trust.
5. Ensure Cared for Children information relating to admission and ED attendance is communicated to the Cared for Health Team.
6. Support the safeguarding team with Safeguarding referrals and incidents reported via Datix.
7. Keep accurate and up to date data that supports the wider partnership agenda.
8. Develop own and others knowledge and practice in relation to safeguarding issues.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
You must be registered on the NMC level 1 as a Nurse, Midwife or Community Public Health.

Qualifications
* Current NMC registration at level 1 (Nurse, Midwife, and or community public health)

* Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience
* Teaching qualification or equivalent
* Awareness of local and national health and social care policy
