Mersey Counselling and Therapy Centre (MCTC) was established in 2011 as a mental health charity based in Birkenhead. Our purpose is to provide a fully professional counselling and psychotherapy service to anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
The role of the Clinical Director forms an integral part of the MCTC Management Team. The two most important qualities for this post are to see counselling and psychotherapy not as a job or career opportunity but as a vocation, a passion, a way of being, and to understand and embrace the need for ongoing personal growth and development for all therapists including the Clinical Director.
The position requires a hands-on approach to the everyday running of the charity, while providing line management for administrative staff and therapists, either employed directly by MCTC or self-employed.
The number of hours worked is 30 hours per week with flexible working hours to accommodate any out-of-normal-hours working, e.g., meetings with the Board of Directors/Trustees (every 3 months on average) or out-of-hours assessments/therapy sessions. Working from home is also available where appropriate. This will include time for a small clinical case load of 3 clients, at least one of which should be face-to-face.
