Learning Support Assistant
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEN provision within the Preston area which caters for students aged 2-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many children who attend this provision are wheelchair users and have speech, language, and communication difficulties, working below their age-related expectations. The school provides an inclusive learning environment that removes barriers to learning, allowing pupils to develop educationally, emotionally, and physically. In addition to educational support, the school collaborates with professionals to provide physical and hydrotherapy sessions.
The school needs multiple Learning Support Assistants to help meet the needs of new pupils. Learning Support Assistants will work with a class of pupils (usually between 4 – 6 pupils) throughout the school day.
Duties include:
1. Encourage pupils to engage with their learning.
2. Use communication aids such as Makaton to develop their speech, language, and communication.
3. Provide personal care.
4. Use sensory toys for enrichment.
5. Assist the Class Teacher in supporting pupils throughout the school day.
The school welcomes applicants with previous care experience, personal experience providing support to those with SEND, or experience supporting children within education or the community.
This is a full-time position; however, part-time applications will also be considered.
