This role has a starting salary of £52,047 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 5 month fixed term contract / secondment opportunity.
We are excited to be hiring a new AI Developer to join our fantastic Digital team. The team is based in Woodhatch Place, Reigate and offers hybrid working. This position is initially set for 5 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.

About the Team
As an organisation, we are focused on becoming a Digital Council, and as an AI Developer, you will work across the Council's Digital, Data and Tech Portfolio as part of a development team consisting of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and chatbot developers. Together, we develop process automations, chatbots, and AI solutions to help us deliver better services to our residents.
About the Role
We are seeking an AI Developer to join our team at the early stages of our AI adoption journey. You will play a crucial role in shaping how we deliver AI services across the organisation, including establishing governance frameworks and ensuring that our solutions are cost-effective and deliver tangible benefits.
Your role involves developing AI models and applications using Microsoft technologies and keeping stakeholders updated on AI capabilities. You will assist teams in identifying opportunities where AI can enhance our services.
You will work closely with teams that may be impacted by or require knowledge of AI projects. Arranging and facilitating workshops to demonstrate the latest AI capabilities will be a key part of your role. Supporting the managing and prioritising all AI projects from discovery to deployment. You will ensure that benefits are agreed upon and tracked prior to any development and oversee handovers to services upon deployment, ensuring they are aware of the Business as Usual (BAU) processes.
Facilitating review meetings such as 'Lessons Learned' post-deployment and capturing feedback to promote success or implement improvements will be part of your responsibilities. You will explore new AI capabilities and functionalities that may contribute to better ways of working. Minimising technical debt and the risk of failures by identifying where maintenance is required and prioritising this work alongside new developments is a key aspect of the role.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
* Proven experience with Microsoft AI tools: Demonstrated ability to develop AI solutions using the Microsoft AI suite of tools such as Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Machine Learning and Bot Framework
* Strong programming and machine learning skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C#, and experience with machine learning frameworks
* Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management: Proficient in articulating AI concepts and project updates to clients and team members to help integrate AI capabilities across the wider team
* Expertise in Agile methodologies: Familiarity with Agile principles and practices to ensure efficient project delivery
* Problem-solving, proactive approach and critical thinking abilities: Capable of addressing challenges and implementing effective solutions in a dynamic AI development environment
