The BSW In Reach Team is a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Clinical Psychologists, Family Therapists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Nurses in Lead Clinical Specialist and Clinical Specialist roles. The BSW In Reach Team promotes more joined up thinking, and provides a morecoordinated and effective approach to integrated working with the Local Authority Children’s Services alongside a coordinated experience of care and support to children, young people and families (CYPF) who have multiple and complex needs.
The service predominantly operates within a consultation framework (AMBIT informed approach) offering a specialist mental health, multi-disciplinary perspective to vulnerable CYPF presenting with complex psychological and systemic issues. This formulation-based approach facilitates a space for shared understanding and thinking together of how best to support children, young people and their family and carers.
The service also offers direct evidence-based intervention through assessment and individual and group treatment to CYPF where this clinical need can be best met within the skill set and service provisions of the In Reach team.
The team also provides training, external supervision, and reflective practice to multi-agency partners and CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
This role offers an opportunity to work with a group of children and young people who have experienced sexual harm, and the networks that support them. This is primarily a consultation based role, however where appropriate there is scope for direct work.
You will use your clinical expertise in the area of sexual harm to provide consultation, supervision and training to professionals working with this group of young people. The post holder will also be delivering workshop/groups for parents/carers of children who have experienced sexual harm.
We would welcome applications from candidates with a core profession and additional training in a NICE informed evidence base for sexual trauma ( E.g. EDMR/ trauma focussed CBT training/NET/psychotherapy).
The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues from statutory and voluntary agencies to develop excellent working relationships to ensure the needs of these children and young people are met in the most appropriate way.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role has the following expectations:
To provide a high-quality specialist support to professionals, parents and carers supporting children and young people who have experienced sexual harm.
To provide consultation and support to team members across Children’s Social Care, and Wiltshire and Swindon CAMHS who deliver assessments, care and interventions to children and young people who have experienced sexual harm.
To provide training to a range of staff in Children’s social care and BSW CAMHS colleagues
To attend strategy and multi-agency meetings for young people identified open to the BSW In- Reach team to contribute to the multi-agency planning and response.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
To utilise research skills for audit and contribute to research and training within the areas served by the teams and service.
To be involved in the development of this service as appropriate.
In BSW we are strongly committed to staff development and progression. We have recently launched a comprehensive CAMHS specific training strategy for all staff at all levels. Our training programme includes numerous CAMHS specific trainings that are directly relevant to roles as well as external trainings funded through HEE.
If successful the applicant could be considered for one of our external training offers in DBT, MBT or VIG and we will offer ongoing supervision for these interventions. Our training strategy also highlights development and progression opportunities for staff as we are keen to grow and develop our workforce for the future. Managers work closely with staff to ensure they have the right trainings to enable them to confidently and competently deliver high standard interventions to children, young people and their families.
In BSW we understand the importance of professional identity. We have leads for each of the professional groups who organise regular meetings across BSW to consider professional development, issues and CPD.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
11. Registered RMN, OT, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist
12. additional training in a NICE informed evidence base for sexual trauma ( E.g. EDMR/ trauma focussed CBT training/NET/psychotherapy).
Desirable criteria
13. Educated to PhD level, Non- medical prescribing qualification Formal teaching qualification Master’s degree directly related to specialism
Experience
Essential criteria
14. Experience/skills of working with young people who are known to Children’s social care and present with complex needs
15. Experience of working with the Mental Health Act and robust knowledge of the Children’s Act
16. Evidence of contribution to policy, protocols and patient care pathway development
17. Evidence of involvement in strategic level decision-making
18. Formal leadership skills and experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
19. Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized therapies with CYP presenting with complex clinical presentations
20. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Safeguarding Children legislation and guidance
21. All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
22. Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
