**Job Title:** Engineering Manager
**Location** : Fridaythorpe, East Riding of Yorkshire, UK
**Contract Shift:** Permanent – Full time – Monday – Friday
**About the Role:**
We need an Engineering Manager to oversee the engineering team at our site.
This role is important in maintaining site reliability, safety, and
encouraging an improvement culture.
You will oversee all site assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations with
a key focus on plant availability and safety.
To perform well in this role, a practical, varied approach is necessary,
focusing on both electrical and mechanical skills, along with good team-
building abilities.
**Why this role?**
This role allows you to contribute positively, with responsibility for the
mill’s engineering operations. You will contribute to the team’s development
through succession planning and skill training. The lean operating environment
offers chances for creative problem-solving and innovative thinking, allowing
you to directly shape site outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, ensuring zero failure repeat practices.
* Maintain all site assets safely and ensure optimal plant availability.
* Oversee preventive and planned maintenance tasks in line with the company’s management system.
* Manage a small engineering team and support their professional growth through training and apprenticeships.
* Manage site capital expenditure projects in engineering, from concept to delivery.
* Implement asset care strategies using tools like Agility CMMS to enhance performance.
* Collaborate closely with production teams, acting as a key internal service provider.
* Lead the engineering aspects of site capital expenditure projects, from concept to delivery.
**Skills & Experience Required:**
* Effective team management skills to manage, develop, and inspire a small team.
* Experience with delivering continuous improvement projects.
* Ability to balance engaged technical work with strategic leadership responsibilities.
* Established background, with a 6040 electrical and mechanical background.
* Experience with engineering management systems (e.g., Agility CMMS).
* Aim to develop a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to QESH standards.
**Desirable Qualifications:**
* NEBOSH qualification or similar HSE certification.
* Experience within feed milling or a related manufacturing sector.
* Capital project management experience.
