Occupational Therapist - Medical Team
Job overview
We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder and looking for a new challenge. The individual needs to be proactive and enthusiastic and will be joining the Acute Medical Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The post holder will work as part of an integrated team as an autonomous practitioner to provide a high standard of intervention across the specialty.
This integrated team is committed to providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients within the wide variety of acute medical wards. You will be required to work alongside your colleagues as an independent practitioner in applying a high level of clinical reasoning to ensure individualised, proactive, and holistic assessment and treatment planning.
Main duties of the job
As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, excellent skills in communication are essential.
As a Band 6 therapist, you will be supporting and developing rotational Band 5 therapists. The role also involves supervising therapy support staff and educating therapy students on placement.
There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the Acute Medicine team.
Working for our organisation
There’s never been a more exciting time to join Team QEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.
Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
At The QEH, we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics, and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs, and South Lincs.
We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness, and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.
