About the role The Faculty of Science is looking for a pro-active and self-motivated individual to take a leading role in managing the activities of the Faculty. This is a hugely varied and interesting role which encompasses a wide range of different tasks from supporting senior members of the Faculty staff in the execution of their duties including diary management and meeting organisation, servicing a number of Faculty committees, collating data, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and working on a variety of projects simultaneously in a busy working environment. To make a success of this post you will be a good team player who also enjoys working independently and taking initiative. You will have excellent administrative abilities and problem-solving skills, including experience of supporting committees and capacity to manage a varied workload whilst meeting strict deadlines. You will be highly organised, confident dealing with data, with great attention to detail. You will have excellent spoken and written English with the ability to write clearly and concisely, and will be proficient in using IT. You will be able to use your knowledge and initiative to manage and prioritise effectively the requirements of the role. Effective and professional liaison with internal and external contacts is an integral part of the role and so a need for tact and discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Previous experience within the HE sector is desirable but not essential. Skills in the use of University specific software (Moodle, SAMIS, Agresso and Business Objects) will be an added advantage. However, an interest in our work and a willingness to become fully involved in the life of the Faculty is equally important.
