As an Electric Vehicle (EV) Powertrain Test Technician, you will focus on the automotive EV Powertrain test rigs for external clients, including project set-up & de-bugging, mechanical & electrical fitting, and test cell operation.

Key Requirements:
1. Vocational qualification or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered
2. IT Literacy (Microsoft packages) required to maintain clear and traceable documentation
3. Excellent communication skills
4. Highly energised mind-set with willingness and desire to learn and adapt individually
5. EV powertrain, battery, hybrid systems knowledge
6. Experience of EV powertrain or hybrid system test operations
7. Knowledge of Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) electrical systems
8. This is a rotating week shift-based position. Early Shift - 6am – 2pm, Late Shift - 2pm – 10pm
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
You will join Transportation Technologies division, it has two laboratories, both based in Milton Keynes. Tanners Drive specialises in combustion engine, transmission and complete powertrain testing services. The second laboratory, in Davy Avenue specialises in electric vehicle propulsion systems testing services, covering electric motors, full integrated axle modules and complete vehicles. This is one of the fastest growing business in Intertek, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.
Required skills and experience
9. Responsible for operation of multiple test rigs outside of normal office hours using defined test methods and scripts
10. Installation and calibration of data acquisition systems
11. Debugging and commissioning of complex electronic systems with high speed serial interfaces (CAN/FLEXRAY etc)
12. Ensure that the data generated is valid and in line with customer requirements
13. Liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers in a professional manner
14. Ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures
15. Help to implement and follow safe systems of work
