Dale Farm Cooperative is a UK dairy farmer co-operative owned by over 1200 dairy farmers who supply us with fresh milk. Dale Farm has operations throughout the UK and Ireland producing and distributing a wide range of dairy products which it sells across the UK and Ireland as well as exporting to over 45 countries worldwide.
We wish to fill the following key position at our Bulk Cheese and Whey processing plant at Dunmanbridge near Cookstown:
Production Process Technician
As a key member of the Bulk Cheese and Whey team, a Production Process Techician, will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient production of quality cheese and whey products
Responsbiltiies
1. Health & Safety: Follow health and safety rules and company policies. Produce risk assessments and method statements for those tasks performed as required. Report any near misses or incidents immediately to the Shift Manager or Relief.
2. Operate and Monitor Equipment: Oversee the operation of machinery involved in cheese and whey production, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
3. Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods to maintain high standards of product quality.
4. Troubleshooting: Takes ownership and responsibility to resolve issues promptly and efficiently minimise downtime and ensure smooth operations.
5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including batch records, equipment maintenance logs, and quality assurance documents.
6. Sanitation and Hygiene: Ensure compliance with sanitation procedures and hygiene standards to uphold food safety regulations and prevent contamination.
7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production staff, quality assurance personnel, and maintenance technicians, to optimise production processes and resolve issues effectively.
8. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing waste and implementing best practices in cheese and whey production.
9. Training: Fully embrace all training for the role and be prepared to cross train within the department to support the Factory targets.
10. Process Optimisation: Apply knowledge gained from training sessions to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in cheese and whey production operations.
11. Other Duties: Undertake any other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors or management. Including but not limited to assisting in inventory management, supporting new product development trials or participating in facility maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the production facility.
The Successful Candidate
Required
12. Good level of general education – min 3 GCSE’s (inc English and Maths) or equivalent.
13. A minimum of 2 years’ relevant food manufacturing / FMCG experience.
14. A demonstrable technical skill set – mechanical, electrical/electronic or mechatronics.
15. Strong communication skills both verbal, written and computerised.
16. Clearly demonstrate an ability to communicate to and work with to a range of internal and external stakeholders professionally and effectively
Desirable
17. H&S experience or responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
18. Working knowledge of a Scada based manufacturing plant.
19. Working Knowledge of a Cheese or Whey Production Process
