Margins Planning Accountant ScottishPower HQ, Glasgow From £42,800 – 53,500 single person health care 10% performance bonus Hybrid Working, Permanent Help us create a better future, quicker ScottishPower are recruiting a Margins Planning Accountant within our Liberalised Control Function which sits within our Customer Business. Reporting into the Margins Planning Manager, you’ll support and contribute to the delivery of all annual and quarterly forecast processes. Working across the wider Finance team and business, you’ll ensure key stakeholders have a clear understanding of business performance (financial and non-financial) by providing comprehensive reporting, analysis, and commentary. What you’ll be doing As Margins Planning Accountant, you’ll calculate, analyse, challenge, report and explain the Retail margin for quarterly forecasts, rolling forecasts and budgets. You’ll work closely with the business teams, challenging where appropriate, to prepare detailed budget and forecasts, for the Retail Margin income statement, balance sheet and cashflow. This will include the analysis of movements between budget and forecasts and the communication of detailed explanations to management. You will assist in the preparation of KPI’s and performance reports and ensure budgets and forecast are accurately loaded to the ledger. Monitor and challenge financial and non -financial performance, on an ongoing basis, to ensure progress towards business objectives and KPI’s are clearly reported. Work closely with the reporting team to assist with understanding and explanation of actual variances to ensure performance against budget and forecast is tightly monitored. You’ll review and challenge information from 3rd parties and adopt a proactive approach to improving quality and means of receiving information to ensure complete integrity of management accounts. You will build effective relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to a positive team environment. What you’ll bring We’re looking for a commercially aware newly qualified accountant with a good understanding of the market we operate in (desirable). Fully computer literate including excellent Excel and ledger posting skills. You’ll be a delivery focussed individual with a high level of resilience to deal with the changing demands and time pressures of the role and enjoy working as part of a team that is fully integrated. You’ll be confident communicator, with strong stakeholder management stills who is able to communicate the impact of issues to senior management clearly and concisely and constructively challenge where appropriate. You’ll be able to relay financial concepts/issues to non-finance managers and key business stakeholders. You’ll be able to plan and organise your own workload, prioritising multiple ongoing issues and proactively applying existing knowledge or formulate effective strategies to mitigate/resolve emerging issues quickly and effectively.
