We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our homelessness service in Midlothian. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness. As a Support Worker, you will provide essential support to vulnerable individuals, helping them to navigate and overcome the challenges they face in securing and maintaining stable housing. You will be working as part of a compassionate, dedicated team to empower individuals to regain independence and build a better future. Key Responsibilities: Provide person-centered support to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Assist clients with accessing and maintaining accommodation, providing emotional, practical, and advocacy support. Help clients develop life skills, such as budgeting, job-seeking, and managing daily routines, to support long-term independence. Collaborate with other agencies and services to provide holistic support tailored to individual needs. Conduct needs assessments, contribute to care plans, and help clients to set achievable goals. Promote and encourage clients to take an active role in their recovery and reintegration into the community. Ensure all support and interactions are documented accurately, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding policies. What we are looking for: A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals, particularly those experiencing homelessness. Experience in care or support work, ideally within a homelessness or social care setting (but not essential). Strong communication skills and an ability to build positive, trusting relationships with clients. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A non-judgmental, empathetic, and client-centered approach. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a challenging environment.
