Construction Planner – Major CAPEX Projects (Pharma)

Overview
We are currently supporting a leading global manufacturer on the search for an experienced Construction Planner to support the planning and execution of large-scale CAPEX projects at their industrial facility in Dalry, Scotland. The successful candidate will work closely with EPCM partners, site managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of fully integrated construction schedules aligned with project milestones and risk strategies.
This is a high-impact role suited to professionals with Primavera P6 expertise and proven experience in construction planning across industrial, pharmaceutical, biotech, or chemical environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
* Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring logical sequencing of work and accurate forecasting.
* Integrate construction plans with engineering, procurement, and commissioning activities to deliver a unified project schedule.
* Adjust plans in response to site developments, project delays, and scope changes.
Progress Tracking & Reporting
* Track and monitor progress against baseline schedules.
* Produce weekly and monthly progress reports, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
* Validate on-site progress reports with field teams to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Risk & Change Management
* Identify and assess schedule-related risks, proposing proactive mitigation strategies.
* Evaluate and incorporate change requests, ensuring proper stakeholder notification and documentation.
Stakeholder Coordination
* Coordinate with site teams, contractors, and EPCM partners to ensure alignment and resolve planning conflicts.
* Collaborate with project controls and cost teams to support earned value management (EVM) and cost-schedule integration.
* Participate in planning meetings and provide critical scheduling insights to drive timely project delivery.
Key Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of construction planning experience within pharma, biotech, chemicals, or industrial CAPEX environments.
* Strong expertise in Primavera P6, with a proven track record of managing complex construction schedules.
* Solid understanding of construction sequencing, methodologies, and logistical challenges.
* Prior experience working with EPCM delivery models and coordinating between client and contractor teams.
* Familiarity with progress measurement, forecasting, and change control procedures.
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
* Willingness to work on-site in Dalry 4–5 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Controls, or equivalent field.
* Experience on capital projects exceeding £100M / €100M in value.
* Knowledge of EVM, cost-schedule integration, and large-scale project delivery frameworks.
