Join Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance as a Geotechnical Engineer. The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Geotechnical Engineer to support and enhance our project delivery team. What will you be doing as our new Geotechnical Engineer ? In this r ole, you will be undertaking geotechnical sampling and testing in advance of SPA pipelaying activity. You will support construction activities and ensure compaction and backfill is undertaken in accordance with the pipeline design requirements whilst maximising the utilisation of excavated material as pipeline bedding and surround. The role will involve gathering of samples and undertaking site-based testing to support the engineering assessment of excavated materials. You will be required to liais e with site teams in undertaking these works and advance planning for pipe laying ; providing t echnical support to the central SPA geotechnical team. Key responsibilities: Undertake in advance of pipeline construction Dynamic Cone Penetrometer & hand shear vane testing to confirm p ipe design bedding class requirements, r equired temporary trench design based on site test data collected, and s upervise trial excavations including soil logging. Plan and undertake intermittent earthwork construction trials to validate compaction requirement adjacent t o the pipe trench in advance of pipe laying to negate the requirement for compaction validation and man entry into the trench. Plan additional investigations, sampling and testing where to confirm soil classification. Support planning of options to move suitable materials along the pipeline to maximise reuse as bedding and surround to limit any requirements for import. A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: This job might be for you if you are: Educated to degree level in in geotechnical engineering / soil mechanics. Experienced in geotechnical design. Experience d in undertaking physical geotechnical sample testing. Proactive and with a practical nature.
