As a member of Breast Management Team, the post holder will assist in the development of the strategic direction of Breast services. They will work closely with Clinical leads and Operational Managers to be responsible for a defined service portfolio and clinical and performance targets.
The post holder will represent Breast Services at various meetings and forums both internal and external to the trust, deputising for Operational Managers where appropriate.
The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of both the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and the Symptomatic Breast Service (SS). They will contribute to the strategic planning and direction of screening and symptomatic services whilst maintaining NHSBSP targets and guidelines.
The post holder will provide professional leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers others. They will provide a highly visible and authoritative presence and will be responsible for the development and performance management of the breast screening and symptomatic services in line with the care groups values and objectives.
To provide strong leadership and communication skills to ensure the development and improvement of professional performance standards within the sphere of Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services within the Care Group.

• Ensure best practice by keeping abreast of clinical/ national Guidelines
• Directly manage the service, dealing with managerial issues as they arise across all sites.
• Involvement in business planning and service improvement strategy for the service as part of the Care Group business planning process.
• Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff development and training.
• Initiate and implement service change
• To have significant input to business planning and lead in the procurement of new equipment as part of the equipment replacement programme.
• Oversee the budget spend applying budgetary controls where appropriate and be an authorised signatory for budgetary spend.
• To ensure high quality, efficient operational delivery within the all service areas working closely with the specialist teams, including all aspects of HR management.
