The Role & Responsibilities:
The Council is looking for a part time (20 hours per week) permanent Parking Operations Assistant to join our Parking Services Team. Working hours will be spread across Monday-Friday each week.
At Dover District Council, Parking Services are responsible for the management of off-street car parks, on-street parking controls and the enforcement of parking legalisation within the Dover District.
As a Parking Operations Assistant, you will be at the heart of this, providing administrative and operational support to the diverse environment of the parking service dealing with a variety of duties.
Main duties will include:
- Assessing applications for disabled bays;
- Arranging parking suspensions and waivers;
- Advising members of public on parking processes;
- Monitoring parking related asset maintenance requirements.
Who We Are Looking For:
Effective customer contact in the role is vital to our service and is maintained via a number of channels including; web pages, face to face, telephone, e-mail and by letter. This creates a demanding and challenging environment.
It is essential that you have a valid full clean driving licence and a flexible approach to your duties as priorities may vary from day to day. In addition, you will need to demonstrate good customer care skills as the role requires you to deal with customer enquiries whilst maintaining professionalism and diplomacy in sometimes difficult circumstances.
You will have a good level of education with particular emphasis on English and Maths, and proven experience in Word/Excel software.
Ideally you will also have a geographical knowledge of the District and surrounding area.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
A valid driving license is required for the role and use of your own vehicle may be required in order for site visits to be made when access to work vehicles is limited.
