Job summary We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Ward Clerk (30 hours p/w - Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday) to our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The role of the ward clerk is vital to the BCH as you will play a vital role in the smooth running of what is a very important, sensitive and busy ward. You will also be required to work on the PICU Reception Desk so a friendly and welcoming demeanour and calmness under pressure are essential for this role. Flexibility and a can-do attitude are also vital for this post as you will need to be approachable and keen to learn any new processes on what is a critically important, highly supportive and team-focused environment Main duties of the job Responsibilities will include acting as the first point of contact for the ward, greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients using Careflow & Phillips, liaising with all clinicians and colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely stay with the ward, and sending out patient discharge letters, attending daily board round meeting, organising parental accommodation, ensuring parents and visitors have parking permits, reporting on Agility & MEMO. The maintenance of paper and electronic records is also a key element of this role.
