Working within the mechanical team to maintain all plant machinery including both proactive planned maintenance and breakdown repair.
General Duties & Responsibilities
• Safely applying specialist craft skills for the assembly, dismantling, inspection repair and testing of mechanical equipment
• Reading and understanding construction drawings, designs and system schematics to assess equipment, or systems performance and evaluate the cause of any malfunction. Effect necessary repairs and adjustments.
• Carrying out breakdown and planned maintenance tasks
• Receiving Instructions from the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Technician, or from planned lists/MTAS to undertake project and maintenance work on the shift in conjunction with fitters and other operations/engineering personnel.
• Supporting a reliability centred maintenance approach to identifying and undertaking maintenance tasks on major process assets
• Ensuring product quality by managing throughput issues in the execution of maintenance and improvement works
• Reporting works completed on the site CMMS systems
• Responding to site emergencies to recover/restore production in a timely manner
• Assisting in ongoing process control and quality improvement developments through liaison with technical staff including product trial management and evaluation
• Assisting in the training and development of other members of the team and apprentices
Experience & Skills
• RCM formal training and experience
• Leadership skills
• Heavy engineering experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic formal training and experience
• Experience within a manufacturing company
• Knowledge of metal properties and production
• A grounding in mechanical engineering ideally gained through a combination of a formal apprenticeship including practical and theoretical application, and structured additional learning
• Established skills in general fitting, welding, machining, construction, installation and maintenance techniques
• Knowledge of the use of precision measurement equipment and instrumentation
• An understanding of the use of hydraulics systems
• An understanding of codes and symbols used in drawings for mechanical and hydraulic schemes.
• The ability to use knowledge effectively to fault find on complex machinery and systems
• Computer literacy (ideally conversant in the use of CMMS) and basic office software
• A strong understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace
Working Hours: 42 hour four shift pattern working days and nights which includes two 12 hour days 6am-6pm, two 12 hour nights 6pm-6am followed by four rest days
