Swansea Bay University Health Board currently has a Band 8a vacancy for a Static Occupational Therapist in the Virtual Wards, Clusters and ESD.
The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist assessment, goal-directed intervention and rehabilitation to patients in the setting. You will also provide leadership to the occupational therapy team, including personal and service development.
You will be required to work closely with MDT colleagues and contribute to the development of a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service. You will have an opportunity to help shape and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to lead on service development and change.
You will need excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and sound clinical knowledge, but enthusiasm and the potential to develop these within the post will also be valued. As such, you will be provided with a variety of opportunities to develop your leadership, management and clinical skills.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service; the contract hours include a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
Main Duties of the Job
The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a small clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along with experience of service development and quality improvement.
To manage a small defined caseload within a specialist area, using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate; hospital, community, patients' homes and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
To work in partnership with clients, carers, and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.
To provide professional and clinical leadership and supervision for staff within the service.
To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.

Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Professional Registration with HCPC
* Masters or its equivalent level of advanced post-graduate training or experience
* Post registration training in area of clinical expertise and clinical leadership
* Hold a recognised management qualification
* BAOT membership
Experience and Knowledge
* Substantial experience in Occupational Therapy including experience at a higher clinical level
* Experience of leading a project, developing a new service, or service/practice innovation
* Knowledge of national policies & procedures and current best practice relevant to the client groups encompassed within the Service and ability to apply locally
* Experience of operational management and professional leadership e.g. staff meetings
* Knowledge and experience in dealing with a range of Human Resource issues such as Appraisal, Performance Management & Conflict
* Knowledge, understanding & experience of the roles of other professionals & the principles of partnership working with key stakeholders in the service area
* Experience of financial/resource management and recruitment processes
