Job Overview: Paisley Site Services are seeking a skilled Vacuum Engineer to join our clients team in Billingham. The ideal candidate will have experience in diagnosing faults, performing reactive maintenance, and utilising a range of engineering equipment, including welding, grinding, milling, and more. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of vacuum systems and related equipment. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in vacuum systems and associated equipment. Perform reactive and planned maintenance to minimise downtime. Utilise a variety of engineering tools, including welders, grinders, milling machines, and other workshop equipment. Carry out repairs, modifications, and installations on vacuum-related machinery. Work with mechanical and electrical components to ensure system functionality. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and fault findings. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures. Collaborate with other engineers and departments to improve equipment performance and reliability. Requirements: Previous experience in vacuum engineering, mechanical maintenance, or a related field. Proficiency in fault-finding and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems. Strong hands-on experience with welding, grinding, milling, and general fabrication. Knowledge of vacuum pumps, chambers, and associated control systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent). Desirable Skills: Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) systems. Electrical fault-finding and repair experience.
