Job summary A opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably skilled Occupational Therapy technician to join our surgery team based at the University hospital of Llandough. You will gain experience primarily of elective and preadmission surgery with the opportunity to gain skills in frail trauma. You will also be part of the larger surgery team which includes services in University hospital of Wales. This is an exciting period as we are currently operationalising our Occupational Therapy strategy across surgery providing opportunity to engage in service development and ensuring we provide the best value to our service users. We wish to appointan ambitious and motivated individual with excellent communication skills,effective team working and a passion for development and service improvement. Main duties of the job Principally to provide a service, under the direction of a registered practitioner, to individuals and groups within a defined area. They will work with direction to assist the registered practitioner in clinical and administrative duties following specific competency- based training. They will independently carry out routine treatment and intervention programmes to both individuals and groups which have been delegated by a registered practitioner. They will progress within guidelines laid down by the registered practitioner. They will be responsible and accountable for these tasks. The postholder will work within an agreed job plan and objectives which will be reviewed yearly as part of the UHB appraisal process. They may be asked to provide treatments in other clinical areas depending on service needs. They may be required to work their normal contracted hours flexibly in a variety of different working patterns in response to the needs of the service where they are placed. This will involve working their contracted hours as part of a 7 day job plan or working their hours over a pattern that includes extended days and unsocial hours.
