Business Development Manager

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our field team in the UK. Owning the full sales cycle, you will be responsible for the entire range of the Lonza Cell Biology and Transfection product groups. You will be responsible to increase sales by actively selling end to end solutions to our partners in the Pharma & Biotech sector and their collaborators. Supportive functions can be involved as needed (Specialists, Scientific Support, …). You will be part of a young and innovative team. Continuous development and best practice sharing with your colleagues is part of our culture and also expected from our new team member.
Key responsibilities:
1. Delivers on sales targets and manages the sales funnel from new opportunity generation through closing.
2. Manages all sales activities in the designated territory (identification, acquisition, expansion, and renewal).
3. Prospects new customers and accounts within the territory.
4. Develops product knowledge capabilities to position readily available catalogue products as well as custom manufactured cell and media products.
5. Understand the customer's specific application and proposes the best Lonza solution in a consultative way.
6. Organize, plan and schedule time to provide optimum and effective account and territory coverage.
7. Manage interactions proactively to drive customer satisfaction.
8. Coordinates support resources within Lonza to meet customer needs.
9. Shares knowledge about applications and trends with the team in order to coach & achieve high team performance.
10. Maintain accurate customer data in CRM.
Key requirements:
1. BSc, MSc or PhD degree in Life Sciences.
2. Strong communication and solution-oriented skills.
3. Working understanding of cell culture and assay setup.
4. Hands-on Industry experience within a Business Development environment is of advantage.
5. Possess the ability to work autonomously from a home-based office.
6. Fluency in English a must, a second European language is of advantage.
