The role is within the Platform Engineering Team, the key team developing our cloud platforms and supporting migration to cloud through reusable Infrastructure as Code libraries. Our Platform Engineers design, build and maintain the delivery infrastructure, systems and processes underpinning technology transformation engagements and lead the adoption of modern platforms and ways of working. The Role We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer who has a broad understanding of cloud, and a deep understanding of at least one major cloud platform. You will collaborate closely with the wider Platform Engineering Team, Cloud Architects and colleagues in Research to deliver exciting digital programmes in the education sector. The University has a clearly defined IT digital roadmap leading to 2024 / 2025 and as a cloud expert, you'll work in the Platform Engineering team alongside developers, architects, UX designers, analysts and product owners to deliver DevOps CI / CD, automation and cloud infrastructure. You'll work especially closely with our colleagues in Research, helping to define and develop self-service cloud infrastructure, supporting AI / ML implementations and accelerating the pace of moving from ideation to active research. You'll have the expertise and confidence to lead the definition and support of the Azure, AWS delivery platform in complex engagements, typically working in multi-disciplinary teams. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the below skills and experience : Hands on with any of Azure, AWS and / or GCP Services Automating delivery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Terraform Code Repository Management (e.g. GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket) Deep understanding of CI / CD pipeline Scripting with one or more of the following : PowerShell, Python, Golang Understanding of architecture design and documentation Understanding of Security Compliance PCI DSS, ISO, Cyber Essentials, NIST Understanding of SecDevOps Desirable Criteria Familiarity with collaboration suites i.e. Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) Experience of building automation / integrations with Service NOW would also be a bonus.
