The Role and Key Responsibilities
Are you ready for a change? Whether starting your investigative career or seeking a new challenge, this is a great opportunity to join the innovative Initial Investigation Team (IIT) based at HQ, Lewes. The team will use modern technology to support victims via remote applications, focusing on delivering prompt, effective investigations.
As an IIT investigator, you will conduct virtual appointments within 48 hours of initial contact, identify lines of enquiry, gather evidence, provide safeguarding, and prepare investigations for handover to secondary teams.
The team operates on a structured schedule with fixed diary appointments, ensuring timely service delivery, with most investigations handled the same day or within set timeframes. The work pattern involves a 6-on-3-off shift schedule, with a mix of HQ and flexible working.
Post-launch, we aim to gather expressions of interest. Successful applicants will be supported to maintain secondary skills (e.g., PSU).

Skills & Experience
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage workload.
* Ability to work autonomously without supervision.
* Effective and sensitive communication of difficult messages to the public.
* Hold or willingness to undertake Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) Level 1 accreditation.
* Knowledge of Police Systems (NICHE, STORM), ability to write evidential statements, gather initial evidence.
* Confidence in decision-making and communicating challenging messages.
* Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work under deadlines.
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and pass work to colleagues or senior officers.
* IT literacy, familiarity with systems like STORM, Niche, Microsoft Office, and remote engagement technology.
* Emotional resilience, particularly when dealing with vulnerable individuals.
* Flexibility and openness to change, ability to prioritize effectively.
* Willingness to undertake additional duties as required.
