Head of ICA Engineering
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as Head of ICA Engineering in the UK’s largest water company. This role will head an industry-leading ICA Engineering team in the Thames Water Above Ground Engineering to achieve Thames Water’s AMP8 ambitions and beyond. You will have the opportunity to be part of the Above and Below Ground Engineering leadership team developing and influencing the effectiveness of the Engineering function.
What you’ll be doing as Head of ICA Engineering
You will be the recognised expert providing innovation, creativity and leadership to set the ICA Engineering standards and strategy and influence functional strategy. Key responsibilities include:
1. Sit as part of the technical leadership group providing technical oversight of high-profile projects within the business.
2. Proactively set the direction of ICA Engineering within Thames Water.
3. Provide in-depth knowledge of how ICA Engineering and Safety Instrument Systems contribute to the business goals along with a good understanding of the regulatory environment and commercial markets.
4. Confidently communicate and negotiate internally to the highest levels.
5. Lead, support and develop the ICA design team within Thames Water.
6. Oversee ICA-specific projects and provide technical direction within complex jobs.
7. Keep an overview of our delivery partners and contractors providing strategic technical leadership.
What you should bring to the role
Be a recognised leader with extensive experience in this engineering discipline including Instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, Networking and Safety Instrument Systems with meaningful experience in the water industry – understanding how water works, how we do things and how we can improve things for the future. You should also possess the following:
1. Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements.
2. Supportive leadership and communication skills both internally and externally.
3. Passion for Engineering and continuous improvement.
4. Degree level or equivalent with professional charters in your Engineering Discipline.
5. Competence in ICA and Safety Instrument Systems engineering design, which requires bringing together technical and other skills, the ability to define a problem and identify constraints, and the employment of creativity and innovation.
6. Be a proactive thinker and have the ability to deal with complex issues.
