Key Responsibilities:
* 3D & 2D Design Updates: Make improvements to existing designs and drawings in SolidWorks, addressing feedback from fabrication and assembly teams.
* New Product Design: Work on fresh, innovative projects by liaising with customers, producing concept drawings, and delivering detailed engineering drawings.
* Engineering Calculations & Reports: Carry out and compile essential engineering calculations to support your designs.
* PDM System Management: Maintain accurate revision control of components and assemblies using SolidWorks' integrated PDM system.
* Supplier Liaison: Communicate with suppliers about component suitability, procurement, and ordering.
* BOM Management: Input design Bills of Materials (BOMs) into manufacturing and stock systems.
* Technical File Production: Create and compile technical files for new and existing machines, ensuring everything is fully documented.
* Instruction Manual Creation: Produce and update clear and concise instruction manuals for finished machines.
* Compliance Knowledge: Learn and adhere to relevant machinery legislation, including ATEX standards for potentially explosive atmospheres.
* Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Produce and modify hydraulic and pneumatic circuit diagrams for machine designs.
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualifications: Minimum of HND or an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* SolidWorks Proficiency: Extensive experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software for designing and updating components and assemblies.
* Microsoft Office Skills: Comfortable with standard Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Team Player: Able to collaborate within a small team, as well as work independently when necessary.
* Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail and high standards of accuracy in your design work and documentation.
* Clear Communication: Excellent written communication skills, especially in English, for creating clear reports and manuals.
* Multitasking Ability: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with strong time management skills.
* Desire to Learn: Motivated to grow and develop your knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and machinery standards.
* Experience in Design Engineering: Previous experience in a design engineer role or similar is beneficial.
* Product Data Management (PDM): Familiarity with PDM systems, including revision control, is a plus.
* Hydraulics & Pneumatics Knowledge: Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and principles is an advantage.
* Stock Management System: Experience using a stock management system like inFlow is a bonus.
* Electrical Systems Knowledge: An understanding of electrical systems and principles is beneficial.
