Principal Engineer Location: Hybrid Job type: Full time, Permanent Ref: 1061 The Principal Engineer, meets all the requirements of the Senior Engineer role and is a respected technical lead and expert with deep knowledge in one discipline in a designated technology discipline/business sector. The role holder will have specialised depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline or function. Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices; Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions What you'll do: May set the technical solution priorities for a designated function or team to ensure task or project completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors Will provide technical oversight on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for a new design. Oversea the realisation of ideas from the initial design stage through to the production and/or installation process. Drawing up detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts Using mathematical and scientific skills to create workable, real-world solutions to problems Selecting the appropriate materials for a new product or a new construction Calculating an accurate cost analysis forecast for a project Completing the required technical and regulatory documents Will provide technical oversight and direction on quality-control tests on a new product/system and overseeing its construction/manufacture, development and deployment. Maintains in depth knowledge of own professional engineering discipline, basic knowledge of related professional engineering disciplines Making decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager Be the point of contact for Technical escalation that need discipline specifice expertise Arranging testing products, systems, software or infrastructure Ensuring projects are completed on-time with the specified budget Maintaining and developing their personal engineering skills Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions Will provide technical direction for functional teams and may lead projects Has specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline or function Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations Contributes discipline/sector technical expertise to Bid and commercial teams Acts as a mentor for colleagues with less experience Complies with prevailing QEHS requirements associated with the role. Who you are: Key requirements: Minimum HND/BEng Degree level of education, or equivalent experience Holds the relevant specified/designated Licences/certifications for the discipline/business sector. Computer literate, competent with MS Office suite, Word, Excel, etc Fully competent knowledge of the quality standards and processes and regulatory requirements applicable to the designated discipline/business area. Competent all-round verbal and written communication skills Fully proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD specified software Ability to work collaboratively Customer focussed and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders. A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes Commercially aware Familiar with 3D modelling packages such as 3D AutoCAD. Aware of BIM processes for successful Integrated Project Delivery. Aware of the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
