Job summary We are Looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking, passionate and motivated nurse/allied health professionals or Children and Young People's Mental Health Practitioner to join our Day Unit within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service within East Lancashire. The post is integral in the running of the Day Unit provision, delivering services for children and young people who have severe and complex mental health difficulties. They will be based within the Day Unit, leading on providing highly specialist assessments of the Children and Young People in line with evidence-based practice, producing packages of care in conjunction with, and on behalf of the multi-disciplinary team. The care will be delivered on an in-centre or outreach basis. This post holder will work under the direction of the Team Co-ordinator and Consultant Psychiatrist within the Day Unit Team. They will evaluate the outcomes and effectiveness of interventions, use verbal reporting mechanisms and keep accurate contemporaneous records. Working predominantly 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, but with a degree of flexibility within this to meet the needs of the ELCAS Service and flexible working arrangements for staff. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. Main duties of the job To work as a member of the ELCAS Day Unit multi-disciplinary team, providing comprehensive assessments, alongside interventions for children, young people and families that require mental health support.In addition to working in the Day Unit, the post holder will work in a range of settings in the community, without direct supervision and managing own standards of practice. Undertake mental health and risk assessments of CYP under 16 years old who have attended Accident and Emergency following episodes of deliberate self-harm, overdoses or mental health presentations. If necessary, provide time limited individual and family reviews/follow-up sessions for the CYP and/or their carers. Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence-based practice and available guidelines, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.Attend and contribute to organised clinical supervision forums with the aim of enhancing one's own and others clinical practice. Work in partnership with external agencies thus ensuring that the needs and safety of children, young people and families are addressed in a proactive manner.
