The Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), as a key part of the Transport Development Team, is responsible for the Statutory Responsibilities within key Legislation, primarily the Flood & Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991.
The success of the regeneration and growth agenda in Thurrock relies on the strength of the flood management infrastructure around it. The Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) is vital to ensure that the management of water is undertaken in a sustainable and safe manner. We are seeking an exceptional and committed individual to join us in the role of LLFA Officer.
This interesting and unique role is vital in the planning, management, and delivery of flood management infrastructure to enable sustainable growth and addressing a range of other community strategy objectives. In addition to planning liaison and delivery of development infrastructure, the post offers the opportunity to develop innovative new flood management projects.
The successful candidate will either have a relevant degree level qualification or is working towards this goal and have knowledge, skills and experience in: -
- Planning - analysis and representation on behalf of the LLFA with respect to planning applications, including supporting senior officers at planning enquiries and appeals,
- Flood investigations - ability to undertake investigations on the causes of flooding and provide support in reporting,
- Design review - technical design checking of drainage schemes, ranging from ordinary drainage consents to complex SuDs designs for S38/278 agreements; and,
- Legal - ability to support, engage and assist in negotiating the delivery of legal agreements and legal enforcement, particularly with respect to riparian responsibilities,
This role does not require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
