This highly successful retail group, with a large network of stores throughout the UK and Ireland, are looking for an experienced Data Privacy Manager to be part of their collaborative team. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the businesses data protection strategy, and working closely with key internal teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, you will reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel and broader leadership team at group level. Key Responsibilities: Lead on the management of all data privacy matters, including regulatory compliance, GDPR compliance, data protection impact assessments, privacy notices, and data subject rights requests. Provide expert data protection advice to the Executive team and wider business on complex data privacy issues, ensuring compliance across various business initiatives and activities. Risk Management: Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), identify risks, recommend mitigation measures, and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) accordingly. Act as the key point of contact for managing data breaches, investigating incidents, and liaising with the Supervisory Authorities. Develop and implement data protection training and awareness programs across the business. Oversee the process of managing and responding to data subject requests in a timely and compliant manner. Stay up-to-date with the latest data protection laws, regulations, and best practices, ensuring that policies are in line with evolving legal frameworks. Liaise with external partners, regulators, and auditors, ensuring the company’s data protection practices meet external expectations. Ensure accurate documentation of compliance actions, and maintain an organized system of records related to data privacy matters. The Ideal Candidate: Either a qualified lawyer with a strong background in data protection and privacy law, or an experienced Data Privacy Manager who has at least 5 years’ experience. Solid understanding of GDPR, the UK Data Protection, and other relevant regulations, with practical experience in their application. Proven experience in managing data privacy functions at a senior level, ideally in a corporate or retail environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to identify, assess, and manage data privacy risks effectively, ensuring compliance and mitigating potential legal, financial, or reputational harm. A supportive and collaborative team player, able to build effective relationships across departments and levels of seniority.
