Northumbria Healthcare covers a large geographical area, providing safe and high-quality care in both hospital and community settings. As such we need to be able to respond quickly to meet demands caused by an increase in patient activity, staff holidays or illness.
This is where our staff bank plays a vital role, providing service support 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The bank is not just for doctors and nurses, we cater for all staff groups including AHPS, nursing support roles, administrative staff, facilities staff and more.
Main duties of the job
There are bank assignments all around the Trust, including our community settings in Haltwhistle, Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Rothbury, Blyth as well as our main hospitals in Hexham, Ashington, North Tyneside and Cramlington. We have a range of shifts 7 days per week including day shifts, earlies, lates, twilight, nights and weekends. With bank you can pick and choose which shifts suit you.
The role is to provide high standards of care to patients accessing our services. You will need to:
1. Embrace our trust values, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a flexible approach to your work.
2. Provide clinical expertise and practice autonomously in the absence of medical cover.
3. Provide skilled and knowledgeable care and advice to patients and their carers.
4. Complete assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct care to patients.
5. Work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
6. Engage with external agencies to provide a high quality service for patients from disease, and their carers.
7. Contribute to the development of high quality services within Northumbria Healthcare.

Job responsibilities

As a Bank Nurse Practitioner you will already be a senior experienced clinician ideally with ensuring that patients across Northumberland and North Tyneside experience the highest quality of care in hospital, in the community and at home. Extensive surgical, orthopaedic, medical or emergency care knowledge, and a high level of clinical skill. You will be a motivated team player who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You will be part of a team of people who will be instrumental in developing and delivering our plans moving forward and will contribute positively to the development of the patient pathways for our patients.

Qualifications
* 1st Level Live Registered Nurse
* Registered Mentor
* Degree level study with ongoing/continuing professional development
* ENB998/730 or equivalent.
* ILS (Advanced CPR/Trust one day training course)
* IRMER course
* Nurse prescribing course or willing to undertake
Experience & Knowledge
* Appropriate senior clinical experience
* Advanced clinical skills, knowledge and qualifications in clinical care
* Evidence of continuing academic and professional development
