Contek are working with a client in Ulverston who provide CNC Machining Services, they specialise in crafting precision-engineered parts and setting industry standards. Manufacturing parts to various sectors including Medical, Aerospace, Automotive and Military markets.
Through growth they are looking for a Junior Quality technician to join the team on a permanent basis. If you have foundations of experience within manufacturing and quality then you will be considered.
Day shift Mon to Thursday 07:00 - 15:30 and Fridays 07:00 - 13:00. (38.5 working week).
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Technician to join our quality assurance team. The Quality Technician will be responsible for inspecting and testing products, components, and materials to ensure they meet specified quality standards. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in quality control processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspecting Products: Conduct inspections of finished products, raw materials, and in-process items using various measuring tools and techniques to ensure compliance with quality standards.
2. Testing and Measurements: Perform mechanical, dimensional, and visual testing using gauges, micrometres, calipers, and other testing equipment.
3. Data Collection and Reporting: Record test data, prepare inspection reports, and maintain accurate documentation of findings and deviations from product specifications.
4. Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.
5. Non-Conformance Management: Identify and report non-conforming materials or products. Work with the Quality Leader and production team to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
6. Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives by analysing quality trends and proposing solutions to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
7. Calibration and Maintenance: Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment.
8. Quality Audits: Assist in internal and external quality audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
9. Training and Guidance: Provide guidance to production operators on quality control processes and best practices to prevent defects.
Required Qualifications:
* Education: Good GCE’s or equivalent required. Technical qualification in quality control, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a quality control or quality assurance role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in using measurement tools and testing equipment such as micrometer, calipers, and gauges. Familiarity with ISO standards, or other quality management systems is a plus.
* Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing inspections and recording data.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report findings and collaborate with team members.
* Problem-Solving: Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
* Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience with quality management software (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certification in quality control or quality assurance.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
