Join to apply for the Highly Specialist Podiatrist role at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
The podiatry service in North East Essex provides clinic and home visits to patients who need NHS podiatry care.
This role is part of the integrated podiatry service, which provides care for all ages and a variety of pathologies, including nail surgery, wound care, biomechanics, foot protection service, and MDT foot clinic for diabetic patients.
The post holder will be required to participate in the full breadth of the service but will have a specialist interest focused on the management of MSK/Biomechanics patients.
It is expected that this post will develop to become a non-medical prescriber, which can be developed whilst in the service.
The service is committed to supporting the workforce of the future, and as such, you will support the development of staff across a range of points in their career, from assistant staff working towards the RCoP qualifications to apprentice podiatrists (pre-reg) and post-registration staff through preceptorship and into expert practice.
You will work as part of the podiatry service and wider services to deliver therapeutic input to patients with the aim of returning them to maximum independent living, within a stimulating environment actively promoting self-management of all activities of daily living.
As a specialist practitioner, you will provide advanced and broad-ranging diagnostics and case management of complex patients. You will have access to a broad range of diagnostics including ABPI, toe pressures, x-ray, ultrasound, duplex, as well as PGDs, community casting, and orthotists to aid in the management of these patients.
You will empower patients to make decisions about their own care and encourage them to exercise their rights and choices, signposting them to relevant community and voluntary services and supporting patients, carers, and members of the integrated team with the management of complex presentations and risk.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will undertake a differential diagnosis procedure, distinguishing a particular disease or condition from others that present similar clinical features and determining a specific diagnosis and subsequent treatment options.
The expectation is that you will be a non-medical prescriber, which may be acquired during development into this role.
While this post will provide a specialist resource for MSK/biomechanics podiatry, you will be required to maintain generalist podiatry skills, including diabetic, vascular, wound, and nail surgery.
