What’s the Opportunity?
A new position within an established and reputable logistics company, they have an excellent presence across the UK and globally and are wanting a Logistics Controller in their Transport department to take ownership of the transport function. Reporting into the Branch Manager, you will have the opportunity to have input into how it works, pulling on your transport and logistics expertise. The role will be focused on growing, developing, and maintaining new transport haulage business opportunities whilst continually improving service offerings to customers. You’ll have excellent negotiation skills aiming to exceed existing and new customer expectations.
What you’ll be doing as a Logistics Controller in Transport, but not limited to:
1. Receiving and processing customer orders for outbound deliveries.
2. Organising the most efficient, cost-effective transport solution to deliver the goods on time.
3. Booking in customer deliveries.
4. Obtaining quotes from haulage customers, negotiating rates, and organising bookings.
5. Ensuring you have PODs for all deliveries and processing partner invoices.
6. Onboarding new haulage partners, ensuring that you obtain relevant documentation.
7. Working closely with the customs team to support import and export customs papers.
8. Conducting investigations into any delivery issues, updating systems, and responding to customers with root cause analysis and future preventative actions.
9. Providing effective communication to team members, customers, and management.
10. Developing SOPs for haulage operations where required.
11. Ensuring all reports, including internal and customer-specific, are completed within the deadlines, including customer KPIs.
12. Any other tasks as directed by your manager.
Your experience and attributes as a Transport Logistics Controller will include:
1. Having an excellent and demonstrable transport, haulage operational knowledge.
2. Good negotiation skills; you’ll be an excellent communicator able to build solid relationships.
3. Having the confidence to overcome and challenge internal and external issues.
4. Excellent IT skills.
5. A positive mindset and can-do attitude is paramount.
