(3 Month Temporary Contract) Metsä Wood UK As our Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor, based in Boston, Lincolnshire and also covering our Kings Lynn, Norfolk site, you will primarily responsible for assisting in the implementation of the health, safety & environmental aspects of the Company’s integrated management system. The post holder will also assist internally with the provision of health, safety & environmental advice and guidance. What will you get to do? Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company. Contribute to the Company’s HSE commitments in the highlighting and promoting best practice. Assist in the management and control of outstanding non-conformances. with the Company’s Integrated Management System. Assist in the annual internal and external audits. Conduct risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced, including updating current risk assessments into a new document format and review. Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards. Conduct regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented against the management system. To analyse and input records into the management system. Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation. Complete, monitor and review records and internal audits findings ensuring compliance is maintained. Produce reports that suggest improvements. Advise and review on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases. Assist in monthly HSE meetings. Participate in the delivery of, health, safety, and environment, training programs. Maintain relevant quality and environmental control procedures in accordance. What kind of skills & experience are we looking for? Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to collaborate with people at all levels of the business Numerate with good data analysis skills. Competent with Microsoft Office skills Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a safety role. IOSH Health & Safety management qualification or similar is required as a minimum requirement. NEBOSH (certificate or Diploma), desirable but not essential. Experience of timber manufacturing / industry, desirable but not essential. Management of Risk Assessments, including capability to conduct risk assessments Understanding of Safety and Environmental systems and processes. Lean Qualification, desirable but not essential.
