Job summary We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and experienced senior speech & language therapist to join a team of over 40 Trust-wide Adult SLTs, for a one year fixed term. You will work primarily within the H&N cancer service based at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH), as well as supporting dysphagia services more widely (with focus on instrumental assessments). This exciting opportunity has arisen following the secondment of one of our substantive post-holders to an advanced NIHR fellowship. You will have a specific remit to inpatients and outpatients presenting with swallowing and communication needs arising from H&N cancer, including those with tracheostomy and following laryngectomy. You will also support wider dysphagia service needs, with focus on instrumental assessments and service developments in this area. You will work alongside a fellow clinical lead specialist SLT for H&N, providing leadership to the SLT H&N service, as well as a number of clinical lead specialists across other specialist areas across the Trust. You will contribute to innovation and service developments within the specialism, working closely with the service managers, consultants and specialist nurses to provide and develop the service. This post relates specifically to Clinical Lead Specialist SLT - H&N & Dysphagia, based at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH). The post holder acts as a clinical lead specialist providing a service to inpatients and outpatients presenting with impairments of swallowing and communication related to H&N cancer primarily, as well as supporting Trust-wide dysphagia requirements, with focus on instrumental assessments. The post-holder is supported by the Clinical Service Lead SLT and fellow Clinical Lead Specialist SLT colleagues within H&N and wider SLT services. The service also receives academic support from the Senior Clinical Academic SLT.
