Job overview
Are you passionate about children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing? Are you committed to leading and delivering safe, effective, and high-quality mental health and wellbeing services to children and young people in education settings, in Waltham Forest?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Senior Supervisor/ Senior Therapist to join our existing Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) within Waltham Forest CAMHS. The Waltham Forest MHST was established in 2021 and is a service designed to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties within education settings. We are a multidisciplinary team made up of Education Mental Health Practitioners, Children Wellbeing Practitioners, Peer Support Workers, Senior Supervisors and Senior Wellbeing Practitioners.
MHSTs aims to:
* Support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems through evidence-based interventions
* Support schools in developing their whole school approach to mental health
* Provide timely advice to school staff and to liaise with other services to help children and young people get the right help and stay in education.
Main duties of the job
The MHST Senior Supervisor/ Senior Therapist will be responsible for the caseload management & supervision of the Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). The post holder will also work with other senior colleagues in developing MHSTs and facilitate wider service transformation.
The EMHPs will work under the supervision of this post holder providing brief, outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in schools. The supervision from the post-holder will equip the EMHPs with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
Working under the direction of the Clinical Lead, the post-holder will also be responsible for liaising directly with schools, developing and co-producing materials for delivery/presentation in schools, and supporting the development and embedding of the MHSTs in schools. In addition to this, the post-holder will have a small caseload and be actively involved in delivering universal and targeted group interventions in schools.
