Due to significant investment and automation activities on a large world class manufacturing site, we have a recruitment drive for PLC biased Electrical Controls Engineers. Newly created roles!
Reporting to the Site Controls & Automation Manager, you will be responsible for automation, controls and electrical systems of the production plant.
Key Responsibilities - Electrical PLC Controls Engineer
1. Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, test and maintenance of software, for:
2. Programmable safety systems
3. PLCs
4. SCADA system
5. Train and provide advice to Engineers and Operators as required
6. PLC alterations & improvements
7. New installations, including programming of software
8. Ensuring machines and equipment are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose
9. Collaborate across teams and contribute to key improvement projects, while gaining experience with a variety of control systems
10. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machine faults to reduce downtime
11. Develop automation skills and techniques through OEM training
12. Coach and mentor Maintenance Engineers on control systems
13. Proactive in detecting, reporting, diagnosing and predicting potential or existing software and electronic issues on all equipment
14. Involved in fault-finding, diagnostics, and implementing permanent solutions to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency
Requirements & Qualifications – Electrical PLC Controls Engineer
1. Must possess an electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND Level)
2. A working knowledge of PLC systems and HMI software
3. Experience maintaining electrical/control systems on complex process and/or high-speed production equipment
4. Experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation devices
5. Experience in PLC touch screen controls and electrical maintenance
6. Problem solving and root cause analysis experience
7. Time served Electrical Engineer
8. Automation / Controls apprentice with several years post qualification work experience within a manufacturing environment
9. HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
10. Ability to fault find and implement program modifications on a range of PLCs & SCADA
11. Knowledge of servo drives and inverters
12. Experience of fault-finding on industrial communication networks
13. Experience of designing & modifying control circuits and program logic
