This nursery lies on the outskirts of Heathfield, offering friendly and stimulating childcare. The nursery is rated 'Good' by Ofsted. It offers bright and homely rooms with a spacious outdoor space to encourage outdoor learning. There are opportunities for children to grow their own fruits and vegetables as well as plenty of opportunities to utilise their creativity. The nursery uses visual cards in each room so that the children can select what they would like to further explore. The nursery is passionate about creating good foundations to prepare and excite children ahead of them starting school and offers additional support to parents on 'School Readiness'. The nursery's curriculum focuses on building independence for all ages, encouraging children to prepare their own snacks from an early age.
Your new role
The nursery is looking for a Nursery Manager who can motivate, lead, and develop a team of staff, effectively communicating with them across all levels. The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
1. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, be responsible for the overall management, planning, and development of the Nursery.
2. Creating an environment that supports the well-being of all the children attending the nursery.
3. Leading, motivating, and developing the staff team.
4. Identifying training requirements for all team members, liaising with the Deputy Manager to produce and ensure the delivery of the nursery training plan, and evaluating the effectiveness of all training carried out within the workplace.
5. Managing people in liaison with the Deputy Manager, reporting regularly to the Operations Manager. This includes recruitment, induction, performance reviews, disciplinaries, grievances, and managing absence.
6. Ensuring efficient financial management of the nursery, ensuring that it is a commercial success.
7. Producing a realistic annual nursery budget in conjunction with the Operations Manager and utilising monthly financial statements to ensure that the budget is on target, reporting any discrepancies.
8. Communicating effectively with all customers, including internal teams, parents/carers, and external agencies, always demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
9. Ensuring that relevant office work and records are completed to the required standard and deadlines.
10. Ensuring that the safeguarding, health, safety, and welfare of the children are always paramount, including dealing with any child protection issues in liaison with the appropriate agencies.
11. Maintaining adequate staffing levels in line with statutory ratio requirements, including arranging staff cover and rotas.
12. Promoting and applying Bluebell Children’s Nurseries equal opportunities policy throughout the nursery.
13. Ensuring the nursery is running to its full capacity by booking children's places to the required levels and managing sales & enquiries effectively in line with company policy, reporting regularly to the Operations Manager.
14. Being aware of the high profile of Bluebell Children’s Nurseries and upholding its excellent standards.
15. Attending out of working hours activities, including training, staff meetings, parent evenings, and special events, and participating or taking control of organizing these events to ensure that the nursery is maintained to the high standard required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate for this role, it is essential to have experience as a Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager within a nursery setting. You must also have a minimum of a recognised Level 3 Qualification within Early Years, as well as a minimum of five years post-qualifying experience.
