The Blood Sciences Department is seeking for a dynamic and motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with the appropriate qualifications and relevant experience in developing quality processes within a laboratory setting at Watford and Hemel Hempstead Hospital sites.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Haematology or Biochemistry with experience in quality management; however, applicants from other Blood Science disciplines with the right experience will also be considered.
Strong communication and presentation skills, along with the ability to work across disciplines and sites, are essential.
The Blood Sciences team encompasses Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Immunology, Point of Care Testing, Phlebotomy, and the Anti-Coagulation Service.

Our department uses Q-Pulse to manage the Quality Management System, including document management, non-conformity reporting, audits, asset control, and supplier management.
The post holder will assist the Blood Science Quality Manager (BSQM) in co-ordinating the quality activities and help implement and maintain the pathology Quality Management System across Blood Sciences. This includes assisting in the following activities:
• Basic training on the use of Q-Pulse.
• Document Control.
• Performing audits and training lab staff in the process.
• Investigation of non-conformances.
• Root Cause investigation.
• Trend analysis.
• Collection of data and production of monthly quality reports and Annual Management Review (AMR) report.
The candidate must be HCPC registered and have significant post laboratory experience, preferably in Haematology and/or Chemical Pathology.

The post holder will report directly to the Blood Science Quality Manager and support the laboratories in maintaining compliance with ISO 15189:2022 and BSQR standards by performing a range of quality assurance activities. They will work closely with laboratory staff to achieve these objectives.
The role is based on standard working hours of 09:00 am to 17:30 pm, with no requirement for out-of-hours or shift work.
The post holder will primarily work at Watford Hospital and Hemel Hempstead on a weekly basis, with occasional duties at the St Albans site as required.
