A position has arisen for a Chargehand Mechanic to work within the busy Fleet Support Section of Argyll and Bute Council, one of Scotland's most stunning areas.

The successful candidate will be based at our Blackhill workshop in Helensburgh and will be expected to assist the Fleet, Waste & Infrastructure team to deliver an efficient, effective and high quality service to users by supervising the inspection, servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of all plant and vehicles used by the council and for all related activities as required. This is a permanent position, 37 hours worked Monday to Friday. When the workload requires the candidate will be expected to cover both Helensburgh and Dunoon areas as well as partake in the Winter Standby rota in Helensburgh.
On occasions you may be required to work in other Argyll and Bute council workshops as directed by the workshop supervisor.
The successful candidate must hold the following qualifications;
* Level 1 or 2 City & Guilds, or equivalent.
* Motor Vehicle Repair qualification
* Time served motor vehicle mechanic
* Driving Licence, to include categories B, B+E, C1, C1+E, C
The candidate must also have experience of working in a heavy vehicle /plant environment including inspection, servicing and repair of light and heavy commercial vehicles. It is essential the candidate is able to organise, lead and supervise other mechanics.
