Location: Central Railway Construction Corridor (M25 to Birmingham) | Mixed Site & Office-Based
Logistics Compliance and Assurance Lead
I am seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineering Logistics Assurance Specialist to join the client-side team responsible for overseeing logistics compliance across a central section of this mega project. Spanning 54 active construction sites, this critical area extends from the M25 toward Birmingham and involves complex logistics operations managed by Tier 1 contractors and major joint ventures.
While the physical logistics are carried out by the joint ventures, your role will be to analyse their reported logistics operations from a client perspective, ensuring full compliance with regulatory, environmental, and social obligations. By leveraging your deep knowledge of civil engineering logistics, you will provide insights into movement patterns, identify potential issues, and promote best practices in collaboration with Tier 1 contractors.
You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of logistics at quite some scale across multi site, multi daily movements, with some sites needing 150 movements each day. A railway background isn't essential though helpful as there will be movement from civil engineering to railway engineering. A military logistics background, or major multi sited transport and freight logistics experience is relevant. Clearly, other large scale infrastructure projects such as highways, airports, stations, or urban developments are applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Compliance & Assurance: Evaluate and assure contractor compliance with legal, environmental, and community engagement standards.
2. Data-Driven Analysis: Track and analyse logistics trends, vehicle movements, and material flows to spotlight high-impact areas requiring intervention.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with contractors’ logistics teams to address operational complexities and ensure best-in-class practices.
4. Community & Environmental Focus: Ensure all logistics activities align with environmental sustainability goals and community engagement commitments.
5. Reporting & Insight Generation: Develop high-level reports and recommendations to senior leadership, highlighting opportunities for process improvements.
What I'm looking for:
1. Expertise: Extensive experience in civil engineering logistics, including large-scale infrastructure or major construction projects.
2. Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental standards, compliance regulations, and community engagement frameworks.
3. Analytical Mindset: Ability to process complex logistics data, identify patterns, and communicate actionable insights.
4. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior contractors, project teams, and public bodies.
5. Problem-Solving: Ability to foresee challenges and proactively develop solutions that ensure operational excellence.
