Job overview
The post holder's primary focus will be to manage the delivery of internal audit services to help support clients achieve their strategic objectives.
The post holder will use their considerable audit experience to create, proactively manage and deliver a range of clients' internal audit work plans.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as the engagement lead with all assigned clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
2. Conclude upon the quality of all audit opinions produced for allocated clients and assist in drafting the Annual Governance Statement as required.
3. Respond to sensitive and complex queries from clients, including reporting to the organisation's audit committee regularly.
4. Contribute to the ongoing development of AuditOne by undertaking specific tasks designed to deliver strategic and annual objectives.
Person specification
Education & Qualification
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, or significant equivalent specialist experience supplemented by specialist training to master’s or equivalent level.
* Accountancy Qualification (C.C.A.B) or MIIA or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Significant experience at a senior level of leading internal audit services within the NHS or public sector.
* Experience of working with audit methodology and techniques in risk management, governance, and financial systems.
* Experience of supporting preparation of the annual Head of Internal Audit Opinion.
* Proficient leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.
* Experience of completing and presenting at procurement tender processes.
* Knowledge of the practical implementation of data analytics within an audit function.
Finance & Resources
* Experience of managing the operational resource budget for assigned clients.
* Able to deliver engaging line management for direct reports and oversee performance feedback.
Communication & Engagement
* Experience of acting as the client engagement lead and building strong working relationships.
* Experience of attending client committees to present assignments or presentations.
* Able to manage complex work and urgent requests for advice across various areas.
