We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the data centre infrastructure and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all systems. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain data centre equipment, including servers, storage devices, and networking hardware.
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems when necessary.
Assist in the installation and configuration of new hardware and software systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, configurations, and inventory.
Collaborate with other IT staff to support data centre operations and projects.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices within the data centre environment.
Participate in on-call support to address urgent issues outside of regular working hours.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Data Centre Technician or in a similar technical role.
Strong understanding of server hardware, networking concepts, and data centre operations.
Familiarity with virtualisation technologies and cloud computing is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent) are preferred but not mandatory.
Willingness to learn new technologies and processes as required.
Preferred Skills
Certification in data center design (e.g., Data Center Design Professional, LEED certification).
Certification in Commscope, Juniper, Panduit, Corning,Cisco, Leviton
Experience with cloud computing and hybrid IT solutions.
Knowledge of emerging technologies like edge computing and green data center initiatives.
