Dermatology & Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Nurse

The post holder will be expected to work as an autonomous, advanced practitioner and effectively deliver an expert nursing service within Dermatology. This includes effectively managing a caseload of patients and ensuring that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support.
Main duties of the job
* Provide effective nursing expertise within the dermatology team and ensure the provision of high quality care to patients and carers.
* Carry out nurse-led acne clinics and Systemic drug monitoring clinics including Biologics Clinics (St Georges' site).
* Systemic monitoring clinics have clinical supervision provided by Consultant or Registrar.
* Carry out virtual results clinics.
* Conduct skin education clinics for patients with chronic skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis, including adults and paediatrics.
* Conduct photodynamic therapy clinics for patients with non-melanoma skin cancer.
* Support patients diagnosed with skin cancer as keyworker and attend skin cancer MDT.
* Ensure standards for skin cancer keyworker are adhered to.
* Carry out nursing keyworker skin cancer audits to meet national and local standards.
* Collect skin cancer data in line with trust and national skin cancer standards.
* Participate in Skin Cancer Well Being Events.
* Support the two Skin Cancer CNS's ensuring the Dermatology unit is compliant with Skin Cancer annual peer review.
Job responsibilities
* This post is based at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton but the post holder will be expected to travel to the trust's other sites.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* An advanced practitioner either through formal qualification (Degree) and/or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area e.g Dermatology N25 Course
* Non Medical Prescribing course or working towards
* Degree (BSc) or equivalent in a health related subject, or working towards
* Phototherapy Course (Gwent or St Thomas's) and relevant Phototherapy experience
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong leadership skills
* Up to date knowledge and understanding of local and national specialist guidelines
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to build rapport with patients and the MDT
* Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding
* Clear understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
* Experience of running research and audit programmes
Other
* Basic Counselling skills
* Experience of delivering presentations

Salary: £54,320 to £60,981 a year per annum inc HCAS (pro-rata)
