Position Overview
The School of Technology is looking for an experienced generalist administrator to join the team as a School Business and Operations Manager. In this role, you will provide support across the School of Technology, working at a senior level to undertake and lead on various projects at either a School or Departmental level.
This role may be deployed into different functions, for example acting as the operational lead of a specific professional service function in a Department. The role will require flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to different circumstances based on shifting priorities and needs within the School.
Key Duties
1. Supporting and advising, as appropriate, the Head of Department and other senior stakeholders in the development of an academic and operational strategy in a range of areas which may include finance, HR, estate operations.
2. Working with relevant academic leads, either at the Departmental or School level, to provide support for teaching and education and to oversee research administration.
3. Effective change management, working to prepare people for change associated with any given project.
4. Engaging with and understanding the financial implications of work undertaken for departments, both ongoing operational and one-off project support.
5. Overseeing management of space and facilities within the framework set by the Estate Division.
6. Working with the School and Institutional HR Teams, as appropriate, to ensure the provision of comprehensive support in relation to HR matters.
7. Communication and external relations, including liaising with the Office of External Affairs and Communications and the VC's Office concerning Departmental events and commemorations.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience within higher education administration, particularly dealing with senior academic and professional services staff. You will have proven staff management skills, with substantial experience of strategic planning, policy development, HR knowledge, and financial and project management.
