Join our team as a Forensic Healthcare Practitioner and play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of detained persons in police custody. About the Role As a Forensic Healthcare Practitioner, you will work as part of a dedicated clinical team available 24/7, 365 days a year. Your role will involve: Conducting clinical assessments and implementing appropriate interventions. Collecting forensic samples for use in the criminal justice system. Providing expert advice and guidance to custody staff. Maintaining detailed and accurate records to support high standards of care. Key Accountabilities Conduct forensic sampling and assess fitness for detention, release, interview, and understanding of charges. Evaluate alcohol and drug intoxication or withdrawal and retrieve blood samples under the Road Traffic Act. Provide responsive, professional support to Custody Sergeants and Officers in assessing detainee healthcare needs. Adhere to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984 Codes of Practice and agreed local protocols. Maintain accurate, complete, and contemporaneous records of clinical and forensic work. Collaborate with custody staff, police officers, and external healthcare providers to ensure service excellence. Support training and mentorship for new team members. Experience and Key Skills Essential: Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. Full UK driving license. Competent in oral and written English. Full membership of the NMC/HCPC. Residency in the UK for at least the last 3 years. Why Join Us?
