About the Role:
As an Application Engineer focused on SolidWorks and PDM systems, you will provide essential support to users across Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments.
Your primary responsibility will be troubleshooting, resolving, and supporting SolidWorks and PDM system-related issues, ensuring these applications work efficiently to support product development. You will also assist in managing user access, system maintenance, and upgrades to ensure system reliability.
What You’ll Do:
User Support & Administration:
1. Provide day-to-day hands-on support for SolidWorks and PDM systems, assisting users with troubleshooting and resolving issues.
2. Administer user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure proper access and security protocols are followed.
3. Assist in creating and managing user access profiles to ensure smooth collaboration across departments.
System Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
1. Resolve issues related to CAD tools such as SolidWorks, ensuring minimal disruption to design and engineering workflows.
2. Manage and support system upgrades, ensuring systems are up-to-date and functioning optimally.
3. Work with IT teams to resolve system downtimes and related issues to maintain continuous availability.
Training & Documentation:
1. Develop and deliver user training materials to ensure teams are well-equipped to utilize SolidWorks and PDM tools effectively.
2. Create and maintain documentation, including work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and best practices for users.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
1. Work closely with teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service to optimize workflows and resolve application issues.
2. Support efforts to streamline processes related to product data management and CAD systems.
Process Improvement & Change Management:
1. Assist in change initiatives aimed at improving system usage and product lifecycle management.
2. Keep up to date with technological developments and contribute to the introduction of new systems or tools to support product development.
What We’re Looking For:
Technical Expertise:
1. Proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM systems (SolidWorks Manage is a plus).
2. Experience with 3D CAD tools and product data management systems.
Experience:
1. Proven commercial experience in a support-focused role specifically working with CAD and PDM systems.
Knowledge:
1. Familiarity with SQL, Microsoft ERP systems, and the engineering design process is beneficial.
2. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to effectively support cross-functional teams.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders, including designers and senior management.
